Your first property management conversation: what to bring

← Property Journal

Whether you are renting out a home for the first time or considering a change of manager, a useful first conversation starts with the property and your priorities.

Describe the starting point

Have the address ready and explain whether the property is vacant, owner-occupied or tenanted. Share when you would like help to begin and any maintenance or access matters you already know about.

Explain what you need help with

You may want to discuss finding tenants, day-to-day management or a possible handover from an existing manager. Identify which parts of ownership take the most time and which questions you would like answered first.

Ask how the service works

Use the meeting to ask about the proposed scope of service, fees, reporting, maintenance approvals and communication. Ask which tasks are included and which need a separate agreement. Clear expectations are more useful than assumptions.

Plan the next step together

If the property is already managed or tenanted, discuss what documents and arrangements the team needs to review before a handover. You do not need every answer before making contact; the initial conversation can identify what to gather next.

Send a short outline through our property management page or call the office to discuss your plans.
